Welcome to our adventure !

Having just learned about this blogging stuff, I decided to put up a sort of "journal" of our great adventure. Most of the pictures included were taken with my droid phone and they're not too bad. As most of you know, we are in Branson, Missouri until....ummmm.....Spring. Yeah, that's it.....Spring !

Washer/Dryer Mod Continued

We were delayed some with the passing of Lightning, and are easing back into finishing this mod.
I still have the exterior electrical and plumbing to do...but below are 3 pictures.  In order, showing the entertainment cabinet "before", then after it's removal the install of the wd, then the rebuilding and the "after" of that entertainment cabinet.  Hope you enjoy.

We Love You Lightning

It is with heavy, heavy heart that I'm letting everyone know that January 10th, 2011 at 11:50 a.m., Judi and I had no choice but to have Lightning put down.  After last week's visit with the vet, we were informed that Lightning's kidneys were about 75% shut down.  We brought him home, and prayed for the best...but to no avail.  Saturday and Sunday, Lightning wouldn't eat anything, and even pretty much stopped drinking water too.  At 14-1/2 years old to the day, Lightning has blessed our lives more than we could've ever imagined.  We are having him cremated, and upon our return to NY in April we will see to it that Lightning finally rejoins his brother Thunder, overlooking Dad's pond.  I will be laser engraving granite in memorial of both of them.

Lightning Bug, Mommie and I miss you something terrible already.  Thank You for 14-1/2 years of pure joy.  You will NEVER be forgotten.

washer/dryer set in place.

OK, only took about 2 minutes for 3 of us to put the w/d into position.  Yes, the back is facing the living room.  Now I will build the custom faceframe/cabinets/tv setup, which will be a single piece unit that is easily removable for any needed repairs at the back of the w/d.

Washer/Dryer Mod

We got the deal on a really nice residential w/d stackable unit, maytag no less.  Yesterday I started the major mods to get this beast to fit into the opening.  Preliminary measurements showed I would have 3/8" clearance.
Believe it or not, here's where it is going....

Here's where I started taking the little cabinets out of the toilet room.

Here's part of the "mess" we've got to deal with.
..and here's with the area demo'd and prepped.

Happy New Year !

Happy New Year to everyone.  Bettie and Dad were here this past week for a few days before heading on to Florida.  We took them to a few shows, had a "post Christmas", did some shopping and ate....a LOT.
We brought in the New Year at the Hamner-Barber show, complete with a mexican fiesta.  Nice package, great show...we even stayed up until midnite !  This coming week might be pretty eventful....Lightning goes to the vet tomorrow to begin the shots for arthritis as well as getting the meds to bring up his red blood cell count.  We'll say a little prayer that these help.  Also, Tomorrow begins the greatest mod attempted on our rig...the installation of a residential stackable washer/dryer.
The shows are pretty much at a standstill for a few weeks while the entertainers take a break.  I'll take this time to get some stuff done here.  We are also beginning the planning of our "return" to NY, which at this time should be around the first week of April.  I'll leave you today with the picture below......
