Welcome to our adventure !

Having just learned about this blogging stuff, I decided to put up a sort of "journal" of our great adventure. Most of the pictures included were taken with my droid phone and they're not too bad. As most of you know, we are in Branson, Missouri until....ummmm.....Spring. Yeah, that's it.....Spring !

The Owen's Homestead

I found out about a fascinating place...the Owen's Homestead.  While it is "in town", it is in a City Wilderness Area.  The city purchased it from the kids of Dr. Owen.  Built back in 1911, it's a 7 acre estate complete with a stone home, barns and massive stone fences and stone planters.  He even built stone steps down to Lake Taneycomo...which is extremely steep and about 1000 feet down.  Anyway...there are four Boy Scouts here in Branson going for their Eagle Scout award.  As a part of that, they are working with the City to help Restore this estate.  Being abandoned for many years, it is in a sad state of disrepair.  I volunteered to help with this project, and yesterday we began.  I worked on disassembling the porch screens and doors, and then moved on to restoring the gutters.  I've been put in charge of building a pair of trellis' for the front to replace the one's that are not in any condition to repair.  We'll be back there next Saturday to complete the Scout's portion of the project.  Here's some pics.......
